Positive approach

Today is 12 weeks post surgery for triple by- pass.

Prior to surgery I was obviously filled with apprehension thinking that things like golf, would be a thing of the past and needed to accept changes.

Medical team assured me this was not the case and to have a positive approach and set small goals for after the surgery.

1st goal - to walk around the ward 3 times unaided.

Achieved after 3 days and released home on 4th day.

2nd goal- build up to walking each day 40mins. (Not easy to achieve in 40c heat and 60+ humidity.

Achieved over 3 week period.

End of week 4 started practice with golf clubs.

Golf Holiday week 8 - Had been booked for some time and did not wish to let my wife down.

Cardiologist gave all clear the day before flight.

We had a great time in South Africa.

Played 6 18 hole courses. Went on Safari and 10k trek through the Bush.

For all pre-OP patients

Be Positive and set small goals and a big target at the end.

Thank you. Still waiting for my AVR date near the end of October. I, like us all, am dreading it, and read many posts like this with hope.
