MRI Stress test and drugs

Quick question. Finally got MRI ‘morphology function stress’. (Wondering if this means the pictures will be on the wall in Vision On😀, hole for those of a certain age...)

Amongst other things it mentions stopping dipyridamole and Nicorandil. Don’t take these but I do have 40mg slow release nitrate , and 2 x 750mg Ranolozine, which was explained as ‘better and more modern than Nicorandil.’

Do I need to stop these too?

Also asking the MRI etc, but replies are slow.

Worried enough at the thought of stopping caffeine for 24hrs😳

If you're unsure it's probably a good idea to check with the MRI staff. Give them a quick ring. They will be able to give you a definite answer.

I had a stress MRI 4 years ago and was taking monomil and ranolizine and wasn't required to stop them.

No sign of Morph when I had my MRI...although I did have my eyes closed and he doesn't say much😁

Thanks. Tried phoning the MRI, got a “I’m not medically trained” response- they only have admin staff answer the phone. Local cardio team are fantastic, but this MRI is a separate hospital/team and desperately overworked (although....)

Called the BHF helpline, who are great. It should be ok, but worth checking further, so I will get a message to my Cardiologist.

Oh that's a shame no-one got back to you. Yes I would probably try the cardiologist s secretary. I suspect you are ok with your drugs but I agree it's best to know for sure.
