Hi fellow survivors! I am off to Vietnam in a couple of days for work and just getting a bit anxiety about q one night stay over in Dubai! I know they have very strict drug laws but was wondering if any of you guys had been to Dubai with the usual suspect meds and had any trouble? I have scanned prohibited lists and can’t see any issues but hoping someone can con firm they are fine with a docs letter?

Heart meds in Dubai
I would be inclined to get GP letter with official surgery stamp stating the need for medsand / or be sure to take repeat prescription with you as evidence! Probably totally unnecessary . I suppose you could try ringing the embassy but rather short time scale.
It's some time ago since I was last there but then I was not asked about any medications I was carrying.
The only thing I've ever had confiscated was Marvel powdered milk in New Zealand that I'd emptied from its container into a poly bag. Against its strict laws protecting the dairy industry. If it had been in it's sealed container it would have been OK.
hi davey. iv passed through dubai airport many times and have never been asked about any meds i’ve carried. they don’t even look at them. i always carry them in hand luggage with repeat prescription. make sure they’re all labelled with your name and keep
in original boxes. have a great time❤️shiona
The only perscription drug I have had that I know is banned in the painkiller Tramadol, a synthetic opioid. Taking it into the country results in an automatic jail sentence. I think this applies to all opiates, synthetic or otherwise.
Hi all thanks for the response. No painkillers coming with me other than good old aspirin! The doc has given me a medication summary. And also the slip that comes with prescription listing all meds doses etc. Atorvastatin, bisoprolol, ramipril, prasugrel, aspirin, and lanzoprasol! I’m also taking a copy of my hossie discharge letter detailing drugs and issues! More stressed about my meds than the bloody trip 😫! 😁👍🏼
The rules changed about 12 months ago. You cannot assume everything will be ok with the UAE authorities. I suggest you read this section from the FCO website gov.uk/foreign-travel-advic... which gives you links to online forms to complete for authorisation IN ADVANCE of travel for certain medications. You must do this if in any doubt or risk potential imprisonment.
Don't take the chance, please check it out thoroughly.
