Heart Failure Meds

My dear old Dad 85 years young and up until the last 6 months fit as a butchers dog (albeit on meds for Hypertension and AFib) recently diagnosed as being in Heart Failure. The docs are sounding positive that they can control Dads symptoms with meds but 2 months down the line and several changes of meds/dose increases and he is still (barring the occasional better day) very weak, exhausted and breathless. We have been told it takes a while to get the meds right but it’s hard to see him really struggling. Anyone out there with similar experiences?

Sorry I can’t help - I’m sure there are people here who know more than me. But just wanted to send good wishes to you and your father and hope it gets sorted soon.

Hi, I was diagnosed with heart failure in October 2018, I was only 55 at the time so probably a bit different from your dad. However I did take several months to get my medication right. It does take time. Wishing you and your dad all the best.

Hi Suzanne. It will take time to adjust and titrate to the correct dosage of medication that the cardiologist and doctors have prescribed for your Father. I too have heart failure and felt exhausted and tired initially but I feel a lot better a couple of years on. I hope your Dad improves very soon. Take care.
