Slow pulse

This is my first post on here and I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice please . I was put on bisoprodol because I was having frequent tachycardia. I also have a lot of Missed beats. I had to come off my nighttime dosage due to a slow pulse. However, my pulse at night is sometimes down to 40 bpm.I was told that Missed beats shouldn’t be a worry but I am concerned that continuing to take the Bisoprolol is now affecting my pulse rate .

Hello and welcome to the forum! Tachycardia is a condition where the heart beats to fast. Beta blockers, like Bisoprolol, tend to reduce both blood pressure and heart rate thus reducing strain on the heart. I would suggest you ring your GP/cardiolgy team to check. Your heart rate can drop overnight whilst you are sleeping.

I was put on 2.5mg Bisoprolol after being diagnosed for a triple CABG. After the first two tablets I felt really ill. My pulse had dropped to the 40's. Went to see my GP and he dropped it to 1.25mg. Following my op, the surgeon doubled the dose to twice a day. My pulse now sits in the 60's and I feel much better. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker, and its job is to reduce the effort on the heart by reducing pulse and blood pressure but the dose is unique to each of us. If in doubt, go see your GP.
