Do people arrange meet ups for a more social experience?

I’m in West Sussex so thought I’d ask

Would be a bit difficult for me in Yorkshire MattUK. Sounds like a good idea though.

Hi Matt. I’m further North than Maisie! Newcastle upon Tyne! If you’re looking for local support groups then here is the link to the BHF website that lists them

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

I agree it would be nice to maintain contact with people locally- I have this very vague notion that on the main website there is a button that says ‘find local people ‘ of course I could have dreamt that! Or imagined it completely which is also an option! Or an age thing! I am sure someone will correct me.

Best wishes Zena

Hi Matt, sounds good to me albeit I am in North Yorkshire (Catterick). However I would assume social meets would be good for those quite comfortable with that sort of thing and I guess some on here prefer the anonymity without a social meet up so they can seek advice and join in forum discussions without the personal contact. Either way good for some but not all. I like the idea though.

Nice idea Matt. Would like that very much but, unfortunately, I'm in Wales. Just a little bit too far....!

Matt, have you enquired at your surgery? Sometimes support groups take place at surgeries but, if not, they may be able to put you in touch with others who are interested.

No I haven’t to be honest.. probably won’t either as our surgery is pretty crap. I’m going through a bad phase at the moment too many negative thoughts and wanting to give up. Bit my tongue last night and wouldn’t stop bleeding for about 49 minutes which sent me into a spiral of I can’t be doing with this

Oh dear. Sorry to hear that MattUK. I hope you’re feeling a little better today. The sun’s shining so try to be positive today. Go for a short walk in the early morning sunshine. Take plenty of water with you and make sure you don’t get too hot. I’m going to do that this morning.

We filled the bird feeders yesterday. A young woodpecker has found them the last few days and there are lots of young finches, thrushes, starlings and tits. Take care MattUK

Hey MattUK. One thought - my cardiac rehab class nurses also ran a local heart support group that met once a month and sounds like the sort of thing you're thinking of. Unfortunately I'm also not local to you (Hampshire). But it may be worth asking your local team (who will probably be based at your local hospital) if they do or know of anything similar? May be a non-starter but just a thought if helpful. Nic x
