Hi Everyone I have micro vascular angina and along with other pills I was put on 5mg amlodipine. My blood pressure has been too low now so consultant suggested cutting it in half, well not had much luck with that as it seems to crumble up! I’ve been told that 2.5mg is not available. Any suggestions? I’m only 7stone 7lb so medication is often too strong.

Hi Jollyness

I had to half my Amlodipine 5mgs last year when I was attempting to change my medication.

I put the tablet flat on a chopping board scored side up. I then placed the blade of a thin bladed knife in the scored line pressing evenly along the score line and tablet should break evenly.

I live with Microvascular and vasospastic angina too.

You can buy a special tablet cutter from a chemist. My husband finds it works extremely well with very small tablets. I hope that is of some help.
