Pacemaker bleeps every two minutes.

For some weeks I have been hearing the odd single bleep that

I could not trace. I thought it might have been from my computer or one of my

phones but it always seemed to come from me.

Today they were much more frequent and at two minute intervals.

I turned everything of and the bleeps continued so it is from my single chamber

pacemaker fitted in 2015. It was last checked in January and they said that as

it does not need to pace very often the battery will be good for years yet. I

phoned the pacemaker clinic but got their answering machine and left a message.

Has anyone else had this and what was the cause if not the

battery. My heart rate is normally between 61 and 69 with a few in the 70’s but

my BP fluctuates a lot.

Thank you. That is a reasonable explanation but It has happened when well away from everything electrical. I have a number for a Boston Scientific rep who goes round hospitals.

She tried to help when I wanted a standing MRI at a London facility. She would have reset it for me but we needed a doctor in attendance as well and we could not arrange that.

Definitely call

It could be the battery you just don't know. Don't take any chances

I left a message at the pacemaker clinic and gave my mobile number. Unfortunately he phoned on our home number while we were out and left a message. He said that the pacemaker cannot make a noise so it must be something else. It had bleeped in other rooms and I was not wearing anything else that could beep. It was doing it every two minutes. Since then it has not bleeped but that has happened previously. A friend suggested that it might be the battery but in January they said it was good for years.

I forgot to ask did they say why it would bleep ? I did not get a manual with mine.

No the bleeps were coming from me and my wife agreed and I still got them when going into the bedroom to get my pacemaker card from my jacket.

I would suggest you ring 111 if you are 100% it is the pacemaker. They should be able to refer to someone who knows.

I hope to get an appointment with my GP tomorrow about something else and will mention it to him. He's smarter that the average GP :-)

Have you had a good response ever from 111 for a more technical question. I doubt if they would have anyone qualified to answer it.

Good and bad experiences for my late mother and myself. They can refer to others who ring you back. Worth a try when GP unavailable.

The battery was fine when tested in January. They reckon it will last for many years.

I tend to lean more to the side of caution.

I would want the battery rechecked. Just to be safe. Over the years many devices have been recalled for a number of things. For Peace of mind I would want the device checked again.

Any updates on the beeping sound?

It's no longer bleeping and my heart rate is in its usual mid 60's so I'm not concerned. I can only suppose that as one member said a nearby electrical device may have caused it. Not my iPad as I had it on my knee last night for about two hours.

Though I don't like mysteries:-)

Not my imagination as my wife could hear it as well when near me.

Does your one often set of security alarms. Some are much more sensitive than others I went into a newly opened shoe shop and it quickly went off when going in and coming out. Our local Sainsbury one often does as well.

My husband had one that's why I responded to your post. It did that when battery was dieing

Some of these devices end out having problems so I was worried about you.
