Well I had the first phase of the root canal work today - my face is frozen in a sneer! As I mentioned in a thread a few weeks ago I spoke with the GP practice's cardiology lead and there is no need for antibiotics for invasive treatment in the case of a straightforward bypass (even if it took eight hours). I did relay his comments that antibiotics must be started at the first sign of an infection. Now to buy some painkillers just in case! I won't be posting anymore today. Apologies as I know I need to reply on BG measurement for Type IIs.

Rest well.
Fingers crossed that you have no painful after effects.
Fortunately no pain when the anesthetic wore off (nearly six hours). Just a slightly 'odd' feeling probably from all the prodding and probing. Feel a bit washed out so easy day today.
To my great surprise the consultant has already written to my new dentist (thought he would be too busy ) and said "whilst it is debatable I think it would be reasonable to consider antibiotic prophylaxis at the time of dental treatment, given (her) structurally abnormal valve". He goes on to suggest the dentist consults the guidelines. In other words I suppose the dentist will have to decide after all.
Hope you are now more comfortable and smiling again.
