My cardiologist said a tissue valve replacement here is given to people over 80 due to second operation after 5 or 10 years. I have had mechanical AVR now for 9 years and you get used to the life style emphasis on LIFE. Warfarin is fine I follow what my gp says and my diet blood tests or my self blood check machine my gp tells me how much warfarin to take. I do not need another operation. Only if any other medical issues occur. Good luck with your decision your cardiologist will guide you I’m sure. Mine did.

Sorry not sure what you are saying? Mechanical valves are usually given to older people to try and prevent further surgery in extreme old age when other factors may make surgery impossible. So a short term tissue valve does not add up. Or have I missed something?
Oh what the cardiologist was saying the life expectancy of 80 year old (no disrespect to 80 year olds) is less so a second op is not usually required.
