Propranolol side effects

Hello peoples - Has anyone experienced adverse reactions to Propranolol such as breathlessness a couple of hours after taking one, aches & pains, a sore throat and tightness in the throat, dizziness and a kind of visual disturbance. I`ve been on them for about 2 months and thought these feelings would go away but so far they`ve persisted. Is it me or has anyone else had the same problems?

Hi Lurchergirl I was prescribed 40 mg a day and had similar side effects ( breathlessness, dizziness, and blurred vision) but it stopped my tachycardia so I persevered for a couple of months then halved my tablet and took 20 mg morning and 20 mg at night and breathlessness and dizziness have gone, still get blurred vision now and again but can take that, maybe have a word with doctor about dosage.

Hi Carlisle 17 Thanks for responding to my problem, I`ve been prescribed 2 x 40mg daily so difficult for me to do that and like you, they seem to be helping my periodic AF and Irregular Heartbeat which is down to my Vagus nerve acting up if I eat too fast so I`m kinda stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea with it but I think I will have a word with my GP if I can ever get through to the surgery or speak to a Doctor.

Thanks once again

Hi I’ve been taking them for 14 years and have been fine I recently increased my dose I was taking 10mg twice a day a tiny dose but was under stress so upped them to 15 mg twice a day the GP said it was fine still a low dose but I felt dizzy and had flu like pains in my arms and legs 😫 I don’t know if it’s because I’m on Levothyroxine and it’s skewing up my thyroid ? Hope you feel better soon xxc

Hi Thanks for replying. I`ve actually been taken off Propranolol now and put on Bisoprolol instead but aren`t getting on too well with them either but have only been on them 2 weeks so will persevere for the time being.
