Elderly mother unable to take lasix and aldactone - Now what?

Good morning to all. I have been on this board for a while now and have indicated that my mother has chf, aortic stenosis and mitro-valve regurgitation - moderate stages. She also has afib and tachycardia. She has a pacemaker for 8 yrs for syncope.

She is on metroplol, Eliquis, lyvoxal for thyroid, and she is supposed to be taking 80 mgs of lasix now because she can’t tolorate 25 mgs of aldactone along with 60 mgs of lasix.

The reason she is not tolerating ANY of these medications is because she cannot urinate and she is having bad muscle cramps in her back and legs. So today she is not taking any lasix. Tomorrow I will get in touch with her doctor of course and she is just resting today, but I know she will fill up again with fluids. She is weak and not feeling well today.

Where do we go from here? The doctor already knows she is not tolerating aldactone, and this is why he removed this med and upped her dose of lasix from 60 to 80 mgs.

Spent the day in the ER today. She had a difficult time breathing this morning and she was shaking and could barely walk. She received an IV of 40 mgs of lasix in the ER and had numerous tests and an X-ray. She was diagnosed with afib ( which she’s had for over 30 yrs), but now it’s considered chronic and also hypervolemia. (Excess fluids in her blood). She was sent home to continue with just 40 mgs of lasix daily. She handled that well, but she needs so much more at this point. We will see her cardiologist and pcp soon as a follow-up. She will be retaining fluids again soon and we will have to do this again. She was on 80 mgs of lasix AND Aldactone 25 mgs. But, this was too much for her and she couldn’t urinate anymore. Plus she had terrible symptoms this morning.
