Oh boy why do we all ways get one

so roll back i did a post about some kind of fluid retention then on advice from district nurses who had noticed it i then went to the doctors who after a check said it was something to do with my heart and wanted me to have blood test and also ecg.

last week i went for the tests and was told that i was been referred for another echo scan after the second one for some strange reasons had been marked as normal even though there were findings which were not on the first echo and were not normal for me, the doctor noted that something wasn't right when he viewed it. also wanted a 24hr b.p

go forwards and then started getting very high urine outputs during the night up to 8 pints so then contact the surgery to enquire about the monitor test and at same time mentioned about the very high outputs over night.

what i didn't expect was to get a very high-rate woman foreign doctor who then instead of dealing with the problem of the abnormal outputs then waffled on that the blood test was normal and get this i wasn't now been referred for the echo, eh! no mention of the b.p monitor and then things got worse when i mentioned that the second echo wasn't normal for me and when i mentioned the leaky heart valve she became really erratic wanting to know who had told me this, i simply told here 'look at the results love and then a quick glance and then it was oh, yeah i mean as patients we are allowed to know our results.

in the end she wanted me to have some more bloods done, i think with her attitude it was more to prove a point and the tests were not even for the problem i had gone in with.

the other problem is that i am certain when she did my b.p that i am pretty sure she pressed the mem recall for someone else as it was then showing 123 but when i got home a re-check showed the top reading was over 170 and my previous have also been more or less the same.

as i was totally peed at what had gone on i then went on to the computer at home and cancelled the blood work and then put the reason as i will let my district nurses contact the surgery when they see the fluid problems again to resolve the situation.

what does get me was the very poor attitude of this doctor lets face it they are on very good money and to treat people like this is not acceptable.

guess it will be like so many now, a case of the problem i have getting worse ending up in a+e because of a G.P attitude problem.

think over the next weeks i may contact cardiology as in the end it was someone at the hospital who looked over the second echo did the findings but then what i have never seen done on these kind of reports, mark it in big letters (normal), this i feel for the time been will prevent me from obtaining appropriate treatment.

will i ever go back to see that doctor again? not in a million years!

Is there not another GP in the practice you can see?

what got me more than anything jimmy was the part where the doctor in a fit of rage wanted to know who had told me that i am suffering from mitra heart valve regurgitation this is not only confirmed on the first echo i had done some years ago but was also confirmed on the second even though it had been marked as normal.

it is like she was trying to deny that i even had it.

yes i can see other doctors as it is a group but at the moment because of someone's rage i have now been left untreated with the fluid retention and also diuresis going on during the night.

what i need to do is as mentioned in my post contacting cardiology and at the same time get my own nurses to also contact the surgery on my behalf to get this sorted or i feel it will end up been a a+e matter at the rate it is going on.

That is totally unacceptable, you need to contact the Practice Manager to make a complaint. If your uncomfortable doing that there are others you can complain too. I feel lucky to have a fantastic GP unlike one of the HF nurses who needs lessons in communication and manners, that’s the polite version!

Hope you get the help you need ASAP

Sadly I have to say doctors do at times get it wrong. I was misdiagnosed at my first ecg and told lots of people have irregular heart beats but she ignored my swollen feet, breathlessness and thyroid malfunction. I went to see the duty doctor who saw the problem on the ecg and put me on furusemide immediately but he trusted she would sort it which she didn't so I had to 111 a couple of days later and they sent paramedics and took me to a&e. One doctor also misdiagnosed a young man relative mine at the same practice with a lump which turned out to be serious and needed surgery. We have to keep on top of things by being as knowledgeable as we can be.

My grandson’s life was saved by a brilliant young paediatrician at Croydon University Hospital after a misdiagnosis at another hospital. Sometimes you need to be lucky and to be in the right place at the right time.

go see PALS in hospital - link below - (dont know what area you are )

Apart from my heart problems - they found cancer on my lungs after last heart attack - stents needed - so all cancer treatment was put on hold apart from scans -

7 months later was told specialist from Harefield was coming up to see me - I received appt letter the day after I was supposed to see him - I was fuming - rang dept - they made another appt - IN A months time!!!!! - bp MUST HAVE GONE THROUGH ROOF!! wasnt prepared to wait another month -

I went to see PALS - explained what had happened - within 1 hour I received phone call and they had arranged specialist to see me within the week

They were excellent - its worth going to speak to them

Good Luck

You can do a report on the NHS Review site about any gp, hospital, or pharmacy-but don't say that the doctor was female and/or foreign!

Would highly recommend contacting you hospital PAL's service. I did as I was concerned I had not received notification of an appointment for a complete meds review six weeks after my cardiologist requesting one and wanted to know what I should do. PAL's department have started their complaints procedure on my behalf - I didn't want to complain, but they said it was an unacceptable length of time to wait. Have had two telephone calls in one week from PAL's letting me know what they are doing - more contact from them in one week than I have had from the Cardiology department in 14 months.
