A rare sensible article from the media! I'm always amazed by those who follow the little coterie of self-promoting statin deniers like Malhotra and Kendrick rather than the medical consensus.

I am as well! Mr Kendrick (I cannot regard him as a doctor) was actually removed from Wikipedia before Christmas.

The other dietary nonsense is the frequent media rubbish about curing Type II diabetes. The extreme diets they publicise cause weight loss and the reduction of liver fat. These reduce the strain in the body and as a result medication may be reduced and in some cases stopped. The same result would be achieved by following a more conventional diet and the weight is more likely to stay off. The diabetes has not been cured and will worsen if carbohydrate are increased or weight regained. The ageing process will also cause things to worsen with the passage of time.

I totally agree!

It sounds like Keto (low Carbs/high Fats) - I often think they are getting paid from somewhere. "Natural food" industry, however they sell stuff bottled, packaged or processed, I often suspected. Without the commercial (financial) interest, I doubt if the qualified Cardiologist & a GP in posh Cheshire would have risked losing their GMC registrations by advocating Keto as a fashionable trendy diet.
