Does anyone have experience of beta blocker rebound? What BB were you on and dose? I think I have this after coming off Propanalol. Thanks

Hi did you come straight off them? You have to be tailed off them. My chemist was livid when the Drs stopped mine, I was due my prescription, as I was on 180mgs, she gave me my prescription as I would have ended up quite ill. Then told me to go back and ask to be tailed off. You can not just stop them. When I saw the Dr she did not realise that they did lower. Luckily for me they did, and luckily I had already had the conversation with hospital, when coming off them was said, and I replied I will stop them in the morning. Got told off, you have to be tailed off. Just a shame they did not explain this in the letter to the Dr. Hope this helps.

Regards Dee.

I was reduced to alternate days for a week then stopped. It was propanalol - initially 10 mg for 3 weeks, then 5 mg 1 week then 5 mg alternate days for one week then stop.

Hello Mollypet. I had a hard time coming off bisoprolol 2.5 mg. On the one hand I felt a huge relief and much for my old self. But I also had a lot of problems with feeling my heart pounding in my ears. I got very anxious and couldn't sleep. Unfortunately I had to renew my passport around this time, so my picture looks particularly awful! Things settled down after a while though.

Thanks. How long did the pounding last. I wake up with palpitations and have the pounding/palps during the day. I'm back on the original dose of Propanalol but these symptoms only came on after GP stopped medication. It's been 5 weeks since original withdrawal. I thought things would settle by now 😓

Hello Mollypet. It's difficult to say as I had a lot of anxiety and that made things much worse. I would say about six weeks. What made the difference was talking to a sympathetic consultant who was very reassuring and that helped to calm me down.

Haha, just renewed my passport and looked terrible on the pic because of the very same reason.

Hi, been on another thread this morning so sorry if i'am repeating myself.

I"am 4 weeks having not been on any blood pressure meds at all, i was on 5mg of Bisoprolol for about 3 weeks and then reduced to 1.25mg for about 10 days, i have felt worse than when i was on them but now having good days and some not so good, others have said this would happen which to me has been a great help so hopefully will feel better soon, good luck. Paul.
