Hi Len, sorry you’re still feeling so anxious about your op, but be kind to yourself, it’s human nature to fear the unknown. I’ve had two AVR ops and despite knowing what to expect I was still anxious the second time round.

You’ll know from reading through the posts on here that there are loads of us who’ve had open heart surgery and have come out the other side, so please try and take some comfort from them. Your surgeon will have done loads of those ops, so he/she will know what they’re doing. Before you know it you’ll be back on the ward and starting the road to recovery, including being dragged out of your chair by the physio to have a ‘little walk’ when all you want to do is stay in bed and feel sorry for yourself 🤪

You will get through it, and we will all be here to cheer you on.

Hi Len123, I can say that I felt the same before my triple 2 months ago and very much so on the night before but must say that on waking on the morning of the op. all anxiety etc. had gone - trust and just let go. All is well and as it should be.

Hiya

Waited 12 months for mine , I was anxious every so often about the what ifs, wish I hadn't of wasted that time because there is nothing to be anxious about , you will get same day surgery , so in , weighed , shower, pain killer , anesthetic , wake up , recover . 20 people were done in the 2 days I was in CITU , I was home in 5 days .

Don't worry but allow yourself a little anxiety about the what if , it's completely natural . :)

Try and find a green area, away from the traffic and go for an easy walk, Admire the plants and the flowers pushing through. Spring is bursting out and life is renewing itself again. You are one of the lucky ones on this planet and you will soon be in being fixed, without being bankrupted in the process. So smell the flowers and start planning for your recovery - a nice holiday in 4 months time perhaps?

I have tried to work to the mantra " If you can't Change it Why Worry about it !! " Sounds simple I know but it can work. I have Had by pass and Stents and live with moderate Heart failure. Talk it over with someone if you can share the problem .
