Immunity

Hi folks, since my op 5 months ago I have had two colds and a chest infection. Most unusual for me. Could my immunity system have been upset by the op or subsequent medication?

Yout immune system has taken a battering, having the op and recovering. Try to avoid viruses. I used to complain to my bosses about colleagues coming in to work with colds and flu. These diseases can severly affect us hearties. They didn't listen.

I never go anywhere now without my boots anti- viral hand foam ( easier on the hands than the alcohol based ones), and wash my hands pretty obsessively. Only my nearest and dearest get to hug me and generally get a grilling on their state of health first!

My husband is on immunosuppressants so I have to be careful, but I also just got fed up with coughs and colds.

I really am trying to avoid getting colds and coughs which with family life and work is difficult. I take a multi vitamin tablet (without vit k because of warfarin) . Don't know if it helps but have only had one cold this season and not a bad one. Keep healthy. Mary

I feel for you. I’d say immune system. I’ve had coughs & colds, real flu, urine infections in the last year. I asked my doctor about this and she suggested Echinaforce (sold in chemists/Holland & Barrett) would be a good remedy as there is some good research that it boosts immunity & is safe to take with most meds.

Im currently on bisprolol & amlodipine and have previously taken aspirin & clopidogrel. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks folks for all the replies. I'm already taking multivitamins but will add extra vitamin C and keep away from everyone lol.
