I received a call from GP last night as results from my echocardiogram were received. He said it shows that my heart isn't relaxing your on blood pressure meds and a beta blocker. No chance to ask questions or anything. I was admitted into hosp new year for heart failure. I need to know if this is all related it what. I have a constant dull headache too. Has anyone got this condition?!! Thank you.

I have no clue. My first reaction is to ask what the doctor meant. Tip: to really know what they mean, you have to get them to write down the technical words/phrase, or record it on your smartphone.

Try this: Does he mean diastolic heart failure? summitmedicalgroup.com/libr...

Hi Maggie153

There are two different types of heart failure-one where your heart muscle is weakened and it can't pump blood out around the body effectively, and the other where your heart doesn't relax in order to allow enough blood into the bottom chamber. The second type of heart failure isn't spoken about as much. If you can call our Heart Helpline on 0300 330 3311 and chat to a cardiac nurse, there's a few questions they'll want to ask you and can give you more information.

Take care,

Ashleigh

Thank you, Ashleigh. I rang and spoke to a cardiac nurse who explained my condition and advised me what to do i.e. see GP and get referred to Cardiologist I found her very helpful. Thanks again.

I would make an appointment with your GP and ask them all your questions. Don't think that you are unduly bothering them: You have been through a traumatic experience and you need looking after, by yourself and health professionals.
