Happy New Year!

I’d just like to say hi to one and all. I was born with aortic stenosis and in 2011 I had to have a heart valve replacement. All was going well after that for a couple of years until I then developed heart failure in 2015. At this point I thought what else can go wrong but once I got over feeling sorry for myself I decided to get on with my life as best as I could and so far so good.

Hi Matt, good to hear you are being so positive about it. I found out I had a heart murmur when I was 16, which they think I was probably born with. I eventually had my first AVR in 2010 and then a second one in 2017. In between I was diagnosed with blood cancer, which turned out to in fact be a rogue spleen mimicking the symptoms of blood cancer. Once they took my spleen out my blood count went back to normal. Like you I decided to just get on with life and try to enjoy whatever time I have because you never know what is round the corner.

All the best for 2019.

Wendy
