Thanks for the heads up - I’ve been told I need AVR surgery but wouldn’t be able bring to watch it. Maybe I’ll record it and watch it after the event... 😏
thanks for sharing =D
Yes just seen it in the tv mag. I shall record it. I'm looking at a MV op, so interested to see what happens.
They are also covering a total knee replacement ( another future op on my right knee), and they're coving a tumour removal.
I will record this for later viewing as I get very tired late evening. Before my bypass I did see some OHS (open heart surgery) on television. I just found it interesting to see what they do compared to reading about it. My attitude may have been different to many awaiting surgery as I just wanted it done as I was totally fed up with the angina and breathlessness!
Plenty of AVR surgery clips on You Tube if you can't wait.
I was curious to know what would be happening to my body whilst I was technically dead ( heart not beating for 40+ minutes whilst on heart/lung machine).
I personally found it informative and empowering but appreciate it's not everyone's choice. It did have the advantage of giving me facts rather than letting my imagination stress me out. Guess it may be a control thing for me, but it's all down to personal choice - for some, ignorance is bliss or more accurately, factual overload can be an issue. Each to their own. So good luck with which ever path you choose.
Thanks for letting us know. I'll watch and record it too, as I may need MV & AV replacements.
i asked them could sum1 record my avr 4 me or could i have a copy of it as i think they film them all 4 insurance purpose but my surgeon said why would i want 2c it lol because im intrested cant wait 2c this documentry thanks 4 makeing me aware it on
Thanks for that information and I did watch it .It was scary but very interesting as I wanted to know how my op was done so now I will YouTube the other part of my surgery which was a bypass graft using the mammary artery
I was shaking at the start of watching but actually in the end I was pleased I had seen it through
I don’t think I could have watched it before or just after the op but as it’s 7 months now but don’t watch if you don’t feel ready as it takes quite a bit to think there’s a person underneath all of that !
