Telephone call from the cardiologist.

Hi All,

Had a phone call today from the Cardiologist this afternoon. So I guess they had the medical meeting to discuss the results from my Echocardiogram. He explained that all the other tests showed blood flowing ok. But the Echocardiogram showed that on the Aorta there are three branches and I only have two.( But from what the cardiac nurse said a few weeks ago, one of the two is small and tight). I think he said I was at a high risk of the blood being thick and sticky? So I have to go for a transoesophageal Echocardiogram, after explaining about my extremely dry throat due to my Sicca Syndrome, they would have to knock me out! I may have to have an MRI scan instead. They will let me know in a letter. They want to see what's going on at the back of my heart. So I will let you know how that goes.

Also update on the Beta Blockers. I had my app with my GP, who was surprised I was still taking the Beta Blockers, as she had stopped them!!! I explained that I was still on them, as the Hospital told me you have to be weaned off, not just stop them, like I said I would? She told me they didn't do a lower dose in those as they only went higher! But she did have a look, apologised and lowered the dose to 90mgs for 3 days and then 60mgs for 3 days. Just goes to show the GP's don't know it all then!! Well I have been off them for over a week now and had no side affects.

Regards Dee

NO GPs don't know it all. The cardiologist planned my tablet dosage round what I was already taking, a strong opiate painkilller and diuretics yet the GP insisted I should stop the diuretics because they would be dropping my BP too low. I missed taking the diuretic for just one day and my BP went far too high

My GP didn't read the results of my echocardiogram and missed an aortic aneurysm, also the results of the echocardiogram ordered by my GP are not sent to the Cardiologist a very odd system. I made sure the hospital got the results.
