Former colleague had stents and was freed from angina for twenty years before unrelated serious medical problems brought it on again. But.it is a question of sticking to your meds and lifestyle changes. If someone smokes and eats junk food they could be back for further treatment in eighteen months. Sadly there is also the undefined luck factor.

Hi

Stents 9 months ago after HA

A couple of bits of advice

1. Attend rehab and then go further

2. Talk to others

3. It will get better

I feel so much better than i did. I think it creeps up on us, only after the event and repair did I realise how bad it had got. Now walking in excess of 7 miles a day, eating healthier and feeling mostly good. Of course we always have down days but they get farther apart

Good luck with your recovery. I wish you well

I had one two days post stents. The cardiologist told me a couple of weeks later that I had a 'good pump' and that I was lucky that the HA had caused little to no damage. Sorry thats not much help

Oh that was good not much damage, I didn't go to hospital till 2 days after my HA, felt ok but family made me go.

Stents will last for decades. You can have a normal life span. Stick to the drugs prescribed! Important! Go to rehab classes as you'll be advised to do. Change your lifestyle and diet as you will be advised to do. DO the exercises, and when discharged from rehab carry on at a gym - you will get help and advice. Keep on with the changes in life re diet and exercise. After a year you will be amazed by how much better and fitter you are. I went from only being able to walk 20 yards to be able to run 4 miles non stop.

I had a HA and stents 10 months ago. I’m 46. I feel better now than I probably have done for 18 months. I suffer with AF badly as well, but the drugs control that. As others have said, go to Cardiac Rehab, I was dubious at first, but ended up loving it. I have days where I seem to be exhausted and I went through a paranoia stage with every pain in my chest where I thought “here we go again” most people I have spoken to and have been through the same, say you never forget about what happened and it’s always at the back of your mind. I have 3 young daughters and they nag me everyday about taking my meds, I’ve changed my lifestyle, ii was never super active, but now lots of walking and diet changes have helped. Good luck with the recovery, it does get easier and you’ll soon be feeling a whole lot better.

Hi I had 3 stents in July 2018, went to wonderful rehab, now running 5km park run after 3 months, like everyone else take the medicines and enjoy you new lease life.

Omg how are you managing a 5k run? I'm walking a mile a day after my stent 3 weeks ago. Is rehab good?

Yes, started walking about 3 days after operation, then went back to Cardiac rehab twice a week, really excellent, then went out walking every day to build up for the 5km park run, first run was 37 minutes but did not stop during the run. Happy days, park run are really excellent, they are very friendly. You can walk also, there is no pressure.
