I had a stent fitted after a heart attack on 29th August. As I have returned to work part time I am doing a bit more. Is it normal to feel breathless?

Yes very much. You still have to take care. Everyone different but don't rush things. Explain to your employer how much this has taken out of you. 💓
As 22alfie has noted you should explain to your employer that you might be doing too much although you are still only working part time. Your employer must take reasonable steps to facilitate your steady return to work as required by the Equality Act 2010, although depending on the organisation you work for this may not be entirely possible. If you have any problems on this with your employer, come back for more advice
It certainly isn’t abnormal. I had this experience. For me, work were very helpful with starting with part time work and building up - but that’s not possible for everyone of course.
Are you signed up for a cardio rehab programme? That would help you enormously in building back fitness and confidence.
if you’re on Ticagrelor post stenting that can also make you breathless. Which will wear off. But you’ve had a lot going on and you need to let the stent settle and join in the cardiac rehab which will help build your fitness up
I too was wondering if you have attended cardiac rehab, I had HA and stents on 29th July and more on the 2nd August and I only finish cardiac rehab today. I am nit due to return to work till the end of this month.
hi there, it seems odd to us that when we have a stent fitted and blood flow into our hearts is opened up again that we feel breathless for a good while.
I had 3 stents fitted in nov 2019 and was just about getting back to full days in March 2020. Still felt breathless at times, at first I was shattered after my first full day, couldn’t believ it… and depending on your condition it may affect you for some time still.
As others have said about the cardiac rehab classes, they really do help. They give a lot of reassurance on how well you can push your body afterwards and be fine.
Well done for surviving and make whatever changes you can to reduce your risk factors.
4 years ago I thought my world had ended….it hasn’t..😁😁🤞🤞
Thank you for the reassurance that you thought your world had ended and it hasn’t. Gives me confidence that all will be ok, I am doing everything possible to give myself the best chance but it’s always in the back of my mind.
The one thing you can do is look at the risk factors that brought you to this position, diet alcohol smoking, family history, lifestyle stress etc. change the ones you can the others you have to accept.
But be positive about it. You survived and live to tell the tale. Well done and good luck on your journey..
