Surgery & teeth health!

Hi all my husband is going into hospital on Wednesday for mitral heart valve replacement. He's been to the dentist to get the necessary form completed, but this weekend has lost a very small filling. Is it necessary to try to get this filled tomorrow? Thanks ..

You need to ring the "Fitness for Surgery" team first thing on the morning although it might be worth a call to the hospital today as there will be a duty cardiologist on. It is important as a friend had surgery postponed on the day by the anesthesist. Good luck!

Thanks - will call the dentist first thing and hopefully they’ll fit him in!

You should also definitely ring the hospital to run it by them. They may wish to delay a few days after treatment/local anesthetic. The dental issue is more to the forefront with valve surgery as there is a higher risk of subsequent infection.

Definitely ring dentist and get emergency appointment. I had the same thing happen and dentist sorted out my filling straight away.
