Foods to avoid with angina?

Hi all, I was diagnosed with micro vascular angina four years ago and there's not much information out there. What foods do you avoid if you have it? I've cut out coffee and chocolate and try to eat healthier. Thanks in advance. 😋

Basically it is down to eating a healthy diet: low fat, low salt, low sugar, plenty of fruit (watch the sugars) and veg, I have never been a fan of spicy food a d once I started the heart meds I became more prone to heartburn.

Thank you for that advice Michael, I'm gradually working out what gives me heartburn. Not easy to give up the odd sneaky coffee though! ☕😏

Just go healthy - cut out high sugar high fat stuff. Eat lots of fruit and veg (don’t juice them though). Unless you know coffee is a trigger, there is no need to give it up but if you are a 10 espresso shots a day man you might want to consider cutting back! There is no hard advice here- just avoid your triggers and be sensible.

Hi Sky69

I live with Microvascular angina and Coronary artery spasms.

As the others have already said eating a well balanced healthy diet is important.

I eat a Mediterranean diet.

Though I think you are asking which foods can make the symptoms worse?

Here's my list of foods I must avoid.

Caffeine

Artificial sweeteners

Chorizo sausage

Other triggers

The cold, emotional stress

Beta blockers

Adrenaline used in local injections at the Dentist and used as treatment for anaphylactic shock

I forgot to add cold remedies with decongestants such as Phenylephrine these constrict your blood vessels too.

So no lemsip etc when you have cold
