Improvement

I have read recently on here about posters whose heart condition has improved, at first with incredulity since I hadn’t thought such a thing was possible, then with happiness for those who had received this good news, but always with a tinge of envy since my Dilated Cardiomyopathy was unlikely to improve.

Yesterday my Heart Failure nurse read from my notes that, as a result of findings after a recent echo, my heart function, which has been classified for a couple of years as severely impaired, is now moderately impaired. The consultant has noted that, due to the variables of AF, this should be taken with a few grains of salt, (my words, not hers), but still . . . .

For the first time in ages I felt like a celebratory glass of wine, but refrained, since I do think that my clean living and very sensible eating has helped to cause the improvement.

So, keep being positive everyone. I was getting a bit morose since I’m on maximum medication and have been deemed unsuitable for a pacemaker due to infection fears, so, as my EP said, “There’s nowhere to go from here.”

Yes there is. Onwards and upwards !!! 💝

Hi I too have had an improvement in my HF...due to them slowly getting my AF under control and the insertion of a PM....and just waiting for the node ablation

That’s brilliant news. And great to see such positive outcomes. Take care. Zena x

Glad to hear of your improvement and sorry to hear you’re not a suitable candidate for a PM.

I’m presently expecting treatment for my DCM. I had an ablation last month and was scheduled for a PM (with subsequent AV ablation) today but it was deferred as a result of worsened arrhythmia after my ablation. I’m disappointed at the delay but trying to keep my spirits up.

Fabulous news! And well done you for your healthy lifestyle which has undoubtedly led to this improvement. I raise a glass of schloer to you 😁.

I was told by one of my doctors that natural honey ( ie honey bought from a beekeeper ) helps to protect your heart... and in some instances can help improvements to the heart. So I went out and found a local beekeeper. And have a spoonful of honey on toast every morning 😁

Fantastic news and very inspiring, thank you and well done x

My granddaughter born with congenital heart disease was given a life expectancy of five years at birth. She is 23 now and continues to amaze us all.

With fifteen operations before the age of thirteen culminating in a Fontan which gives her one working ventricle she never complains or expects to 'get better'.

On Warfarin from 13 she has many things she cannot do.

Not entitled to any benefits because she can make a cup of tea (the assessors comment) she works four hours a day just to eat.
