Hi had heart opp in 2016 I’ve got lump and pain in chest I think 1off the staples in my chest has come undone has anyone else experienced same

Yes I have experienced something similar - not loose but bent.

My advice is go and get it checked asap

I have metal plates in my thigh and when I started experiencing pain I was sent for X-rays as a screw working loose and touching a nerve is not unknown. Mine in fact was the early signs of arthritis.

So there is a remote possibility that a sternal wire had come loose (have you had a heavy knock or bad cough recently). Your GP can refer you for an X-ray but if the pain goes beyond paracetamol go to A&E.

Thanks for your reply’s I go to gym 3times a week but have kept away due to problem I have seen a doctor waiting to see what happens next

An afterthought. As the sternal wires are near the surface I would think it would be a minor procedure to remove one, a few or all of them as after two years your breastbone should be fused. It would be done under a general anesthesic as I believe you can not use a local in close proximity to the heart (just think how your mouth feels if you have a filling).

Needs to be done wearing seat belt gives me pain not has worried now about problem thanks for your response it’s like suffering tooth pain

I had open heart surgery in January and few weeks after noticed a lump getting bigger on my chest. Was one of the wires starting to stick up. So spoke to my consultants secretary and they got me in hospital again and had it taken out under General anaesthetic and it's fine now so you need to see your gp as yours was done a longer time ago. Hope you get on ok

Thanks noticed lump long time ago said and did nothing now it digs in and gives me pain hopefully they will have me in soon to get it sorted
