Would like some advice on flying 4 days after having investigatons done for abnormalities that shown up on ecg I'm not sure if I should cancel the angiogram till after I come back from holiday or if I will be fine to fly

I know two people who were not allowed home; after a stress test and a angiogram respectively. Also is your travel insurance valid? Cancelling the angiogram may not be the best idea. Ring the cardiology department for advice. A uncovered medical claim could prove life-changing!

If they are sending you for an angiogram they obviously have some reason for doing so. I’d advise you do not cancel. Assuming they don’t keep you in (not always a good assumption, I wasn’t allowed home), and assuming no major issues you should be good to fly but I’d certainly be checking with the cardiologist and/or my GP. As mentioned below, you might also want to check your travel insurance. If you took it out before you knew of your current health issues the. You are probably ok, otherwise there might be a bit of a shock in store for you there too.
It's a no brainer. Cancel the holiday. I had an angiogram on 17th May 2018 and the 'abnormalities' on my ECG resulted in me having a quadruple heart bypass operation 7 days later. Without any doubt, this saved my life and I am alive today and able to book a holiday for next year. If I had cancelled my angiogram I would be dead!
I have had any stents I needed inserted at the same time as the angiogram, so if they find anything you may get intervention at the same time. Not all Drs or Hospitals do it this way, but be ready for the possibility. My recovery from each angio has been different. Not always good immediately (or even 4 days) after.
I wouldnt delay for a holiday. But that’s me.

Mmmmmmm....holiday or life, life or holiday. I know which I would chose. You have one life and hopefully many chances of future holidays. Good luck
I had an angiogram in February this year they found blockages in 3 major arteries. The cardiologist didn’t admit me straight away, I needed a triple bypass , but advised me not to fly, drive or go to the gym until after a bypass. I was allowed just gentle exercise & walking. We had a holiday booked in March which we cancelled, it wasn’t worth the risk.
I had my bypass in April & hope to get permission to fly & drive when I see the Surgeon in August.

After my angiogram I was home four hours later BUT........... I didn't get the results until a week after. Your medical insurance will ask if you have any existing problems. I think a holiday cancellation may be best. Any doubt ask your cardiologist
Hi Linn, I echo the other comments, I had an elective angiogram on 8th March and was told I was not going home as was at risk of heart attack, on 16th March I had a triple bypass after staying in hospital. I guess its your call. Best of luck x
