Hi everyone, new member here. I’ve had 2 stents fitted after a completely blocked artery started becoming a problem. I didn’t have a heart attack as my heart managed to “grow” a little vessel that bypassed the blockage all by itself, I’m a very lucky mutant.

I’d been getting chest pains while walking uphill, shortness of breath, numb tongue, tingly arms all the usual stuff. I’d actualy been to the hospital a year before being diagnosed and was told I was fine, ecg and blood test showed nothing.

Long story short, 1 stent through the wrist but heart didn’t like it so another through the groin, didn’t like the procedure much if I’m being honest. Felt terrible for the next few weeks but gradually feeling better. I still have pains in my chest and shortness of breath, i find myself yawning quite a bit but now these issues go away when I exercise. I’m hoping it’s just my meds or anxiety.

I’m now on a predominantly plant based diet, I’ve cut out almost all the bad stuff (alcohol still relaxes me) and exercise for about an hour 3-4 times a week. I’m hoping to feel normal soon and I’m hoping to get off the meds at some point. I’m not even sure that’s possible but that’s the goal.

So that’s me, my name is Steve, 46, married with two very young children and trying my best to get well again. I’m looking forward to chatting with you guys, seems like a great forum.

Thank you.

Hi Steve,

Same here mate, once through the wrist then the groin , bugger having it through the groin again ! Felt like he was pushing his foot up there with the plug lol

Sounds like you’re going all the right things do just stick with it , it’ll get better.

Thanks for the reply mate. I’m trying to do all the right things but I’m still feeling a bit rubbish. How long before you felt better?

Thanks mate

Steve.

Hi Steve. Have you started cardiac rehab yet? That helps a lot. Not only helping with exercise but also with advice. Remember you have had invasive procedures so you are bound to feel tired. However the tiredness will improve as your exercise tolerance increases. Having said that I still have times when I have a nana nap in the afternoon!! But I am a lot older than you! Good to see you are on a plant based diet. I follow Caldwell Esselstyn diet very strict vegan with lots of raw oats! Your tiredness may potentially be from meds as well so maybe worth monitoring those as well. Hopefully you will be able to reduce your meds if not give up some of them in future. Take care. Zena

Hey Zena,

I’m about 4 weeks into my rehab and I’m loving it, I don’t seem to feel tired or out of breath when I’m doing exercise but I yawn all through the warm up lol. I think the med’s are giving me low blood pressure, it was slightly high before but now I’m plant based and don’t consume much salt, sugar etc it’s dropped quite a bit. I don’t know if that’s contributing.

A nana nap!! Lol. I need more of them.

Thanks for the reply Zena.

Steve.
