I had 3 stent done at Papworth on Tues, feeling ok until to day {Sunday } when my blood pressure dropped to 93/47 I came over very hot and sweaty and almost past out, I have read the instruction which states this can be a side effect,
Has anyone one this site had this side effect, and did they have to stop taking them. ?
thanks.

Your symptoms are most likely to be due to the hot weather / dehydration - clopidogrel is an anti - platelet and doesn't cause hypotension. In any case it is extremely important not to stop clopidogrel after a stent - even for a few days - until your cardiologist tells you to. It's normally taken for a year to prevent stent thrombosis, which would be really bad news.
Are you taking any blood pressure drugs?
Phone the BHF nurses or talk to your G P if you are concerned about your symptoms - it's early days.
Thanks for reply, My symptoms started an hour after taking the Med, so not outside in the sun, the info said that it can cause sweating , to the point of fainting, but a rare side effect, I haven't been outside in this heat since I had the stents done on Tues,
I was told that I need to take it for a year, but just wondered if anyone on this site had the same symptoms, It's nice to share info.
I do take other meds for b/pressure, Ramipril. I also take isosorbide and Ranex,
I will have a word with my GP tomorrow, I obviously couldn't call my Dr. today being a weekend, but just thought I'd ask. I do drink loads of water as I have stage 3 kidney disease, so I'm aware of that to brink my b/pressure down,
The surgeon at Papworth said to continue with all the meds I have been taking.
like you say it's early day, I did find the deep breathing helped.
I have just looked up the side effects of clopidogrel it does state "can cause abnormally low b/pressure," but comes under the "rare side effects" so at least I know, I hope this doesn't happen too often.
I take Clopidogrel, before my HA my BP tended to be on the high side, although controlled by the usual appropriate medication. Now my BP is very low, 96/53, I am careful to stand up slowlly, but, I am not sure it's ClopidogreI's fault can't take aspirin it gave me Lymphocycic Colitis, so I really rely on Clopidogrel
Hi I had my stent 6 months ago yet in the last few days I have had similar symptoms which I have never had before , today I was outside just twenty minutes and I felt dreadfully faint and my bp had dropped so I think Fortepiano is most probably right .
The Clopidogrel is important as it stops platelets in your blood clogging up the Stents. Your arteries take in the stents as part of their structure over time which it why you are on Clopidogrel for one year from the date of the stents.
You will need to see your GP or get in touch with the Nurse Specialists at Papworth to find a way of managing your BP.
Will be seeing my Dr. soon, and I do have the specialist nurses number at Papworth, luckily no feeling faint today. It's just nice to hear other peoples experiences, at least we are in the same boat so to speak.
