Living with heart disease

Hi all, I am new here but I am wondering if the care my husband has been receiving is status norm.

He had chest pains for a while and finally had to be seen by cardiology in jan/feb this year.

ECG done.. then on the back of that, a CT had to be done urgently (within two weeks). That then lead to having to have an angiogram (remarkably quick 3 weeks) and they found ‘significant occlusion’ in the circumflex artery. He then needed to be scheduled for a further angiogram with stent.

When the day comes for this procedure, the consultant says ‘nothing wrong - no need’ and the SpR says that there is narrowing in both the circumflex and coronary artery but where the narrowings are deems stenting unsuitable.

Meanwhile his breathlessness and chest pain continue to escalate and he must use his GTN spray several times a day just to function.

Am I expecting too much or is it just a diagnostic norm at this stage ? Worried nothing will be done until he has had a heart attack.

Sorry got the long rambling post but just curious about the experience of others

Your doctor should have the full report on this incident so I would discuss it and further treatment with them.

I recommend reading (and acting upon) the book "How Not To Die" by Dr Michael Greger. I have found it most useful and beneficial. Website: nutritionfacts.org/ there is loads of information on there.

Good Luck!!

As Jimmy says have a discussion with the GP especially if symptoms persist. Following a heart attack I have 2 vessels with 70% and 90% blocked which they were unable to stent. However they felt with medication exercise weight loss and my strict diet (I follow Caldwell Esselstyn diet) they felt that stents were not required. But really important to discuss with GP and also maybe ask for a referral to cardiac rehab sessions. When I was in rehab there were people with angina in the session learning how to manage. Well worth the ask. If required maybe ask for referral for another opinion. Always an option. Take care. Zena
