Hi, I'm new here, I had a cardiac arrest a couple of years ago, I think caused by a MI due to a blood clot. I'm a little sketchy on the details as I don't remember anything for a few days before and a few days after. I've just been recently told I need a second stent following some angina. I always feel that I'm quite young to be having stents (I'm 41) I suppose I have 2 questions; how do you guys who've had heart problems cope with angina? I find it so unsettling. Am I correct to feel so unusual in that whenever I go to a clinic that I'm the youngest person there by a good 20 years. I hasten to point out that I know that those of you who may be older, still suffer all the same anxieties, but I have a young family and it can be quite stressful explaining to a 7 year old what's going on. Any thoughts welcome!

I was 41 when I had my first 2 MI’s and then another the following year have stents and been left with unstable angina it’s unsettling when you have an angina attack but if your taking GTN spray listen to your body and rest afterwards I have 3 teenagers and there a lot of people at clinics that are much younger than us ...❤️

I had a couple of medical students visit me in hospital a few months ago and said “Gee, you must be the youngest person on the cardiac ward by 20 years!” I’m 54 but look younger :) Anxiety is normal with heart issues. Focus on taking good care of yourself so you can then take care of your family.

Wow, how you coping? My first few months were a real blur. I just couldn't understand what had happened or why. Are you doing the NHS fitness courses? I found those to be the worst in terms of feeling stand out odd. Doing stretches with 8o year olds was not something I ever expected to be doing!!

Thanks everyone. Nice to know that other younger people are in the same club. I do try and manage my diet and will increase my exercise after Ive had my new stent. Are people here open with their kids? I don't want to ever worry them but feel I would do more damage if I'm not honest and don't give them proper information.

Rick Wakeman, the musician, had three heart attacks in his twenties and is 70 next May. This should give all forum members hope for the future. He did say, in a recent interview, that he now needs carers as well as roadies! 😀

Thanks Michael, that's exactly the kind of response I'm looking for :)
