I can honestly say that of all the side effects I am experiencing that isn't one of them. This is the first time I have heard it mentioned, hopefully somebody will come along that has the same issue and can help
Morning, since my HA in 2016 my taste buds have been really bad. I add strong spices to most of my food and really lost my love of food. I take bisoprolol but nobody will link loss of taste to taking this drug. I have been sent to see a geriatrician consultant to try and sort me out as I am losing weight and they want somebody to look at all my medications to solve my problems. I am 69 so considered old by the NHS.
I've been taking bisoprolol for about a year now and I have not noticed anything particular with regard to taste of food or loss of appetite. However, I did find that post op (in October '17), I really lost all desire for food. I ate because I knew I had to but with no sense of enjoyment and with almost no sense of flavour. It did pass and was definitely helped along with some strong flavours (chilli etc.). Might be worth trying a curry or similar (whatever you really like)
I also take Bisoprol (along with 3 other meds for HF) but haven’t found it particularly changed my tastebuds. However I am not at all interested in food anymore (except fruit or something sweet) and now have a small plate or bowl as a portion - so maybe it has. My husband is forever trying to get me to eat more! Not that I need it as have put on weight in the last year.
Need to walk my dogs more!
