Well here I am at home in one piece after just 12 hours in Hospital.
It's not a Pleasant Experience, But ( and I love my Buts ) nor is it Horrendous.
So a couple of stents later LAD blockage cleared and Increased blood flow to my Heart Muscle. Cardiologist confirmed it was pointless to try to open my RCA it wouldn't make any difference to my Heart Muscle, Pumping action etc, so he left it alone.
So how did it go. Front load dose of Clopi Dog Grel a lot of Tablets !! then off to the Cath Lab. Met by Amanda (Staff Nurse) who went through my previous history and then said I will now introduce you to the Team, and what a Team I didn't know just how many people were involved in an Angioplasty Procedure. Amanda went through my Name, DOB past History and todays Procedure asked the Team any Questions and also asked me Any Questions, it was so Professional I felt straight away I was in Safe hands. So a small prick into the Right Wrist and then I could feel the Catheter being introduced into my arm and away we went. The Cardiologist talked to the Radiologists like Hold it, Back one Hold it was like a pilot taking off
Then he said this may be uncomfortable, then something like 500 Herapin and the nurse would just repeat 500 Hearpin going in Then what is the Pain on a scale of 1 to 10 so I just said about 5 and the Nurse out loud repeated it so everyone could hear. Then a repeat for the next stent then that's it, how are you feeling I fine, a little breathless so immediate check over with Stethoscope by the Cardiologist, and it all settled down then off to the Ward for Recovery.
Met by the Nurse who had done the Cannula with would you like Tea or Coffee or a Cold drink, and what type of Sandwich would you like ( around 6 different ones ) Thanks I needed that.
Every 15 minutes vital signs etc then after 4 hours dressed and into a Recovery Lounge nice chairs chatting to the other people who have had similar procedures that day. An ECG post PCI was taken, a copy given to me on Discharge should I need a Blue Light trip back with a paramedic , so they could compare should they need to
Glad I didn't need it.
Only one snag I had a bout of weird Heart Beats mentioned it to the Nurse Whooosh back on the Bed ECG connected Blood Pressure monitor back on and it all settled down, they are well versed in this procedure post PCIs.
Uncomfortable bit, the pressure ring on the wrist, but hey if that's all I have to complain about Great.
Thanks to the NHS I felt in good hands from beginning to completion, and more importantly felt involved.
A couple of things on the ECG need further checks, but that's for next months essay just happy to be sat here writing this in comfort.
