Gastro problems

I'm feeling down tonight I suffered with gastro problems and doctor thought it was down to iron tablets but lately I've been having pain going across the top of my stomach again I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have had now two attacks since has anyone else experienced this or is there something else I can take

Yes I have been on 30mg Landoprasol for 3 years now. I do still suffer especially if I forget one days meds. Also if I am a bit under the weather with other health issues. I take mine a good hour or so before breakfast.

But generally it keeps it at bay.

Maybe you need to be on a higher dose. I would ether do a telephone consultation with Gp, or go and see them.

There was some info on iron supplementation on the medical show on BBC radio 4 - inside health I think it’s called. They said the body doesn’t absorb iron taken daily and actually taken every other day allows the body to absorb more - I’m sure you could find the program on iPlayer it was a couple of weeks ago. The upside to that is it’s kinder on the digestion too. I use spatone sachets rather than tablets as they’re much easier to digest - GPs can prescribe spatone but generally don’t because of cost. You could buy it yourself from the pharmacy - a box of 30 sachets is around £10 and of course taken every other day lasts 2 months.
