5 weeks since op. Was going really well and halved painkillers. Have built up walking on flat to 3 miles. 2 days ago on our walk went up a short steep hill. Yesterday made pancakes in light weight frying pan and tossed them. This morning I have a severe pain in my chest. With each breath I take it feels as if someone is thumping me in my chest. Am I right to think I’ve overdone things or could it be more sinister. Any ideas welcome!!

Hi Phil,
more than likely over done it, the pancake tossing I am thinking as the combination movement isn't something you would have done in the previous five weeks. Though do try and get to see your GP or failing this A&E to be sure
hope you get better soon

Thanks. I now realise I have been a bit of a prat tossing the pancakes. Don’t think the medics can do much at this stage. I just wanted someone else to confirm I’ve been a prat. Thanks for taking time to answer. I will take stronger painkillers.
Hi Phil,
Sounds like you are doing really with your recovery and exercise. Hopefully you have only been overdone things, I can imagine that pancake flipping would pull on your scar., If I were you I would not take any risks and contact the doctor this am. Hopefully a quick check/chat will be all that is needed. Not worth taking any chances when you are doing so well. Best wishes and let us know how you get on.
Thanks. My wife told me off for pancake tossing but it seemed so easy and didn’t hurt. I guess that is the culprit. Not much docs can do. They can’t operate again. I just wanted confirmation from someone else that I’d been a bit of a prat!
Hi
Sounds like you’ve over done it but I would get it checked. I recently had terrible pain on inhalation I thought I’d overdone the yoga. I’m 12 week’s post op. The pain was being caused by a build up of fluid around the chest area. They drained 750ml usually you should have 20ml.
I’m sure it is the pancake tossing but it’s best to get things checked if it doesn’t start to improve.
Take care you’re doing amazing in your recovery.
