I have a question, I have been under cardiologist since 1993 when I had palpitations, twice when I was sent in hospital after having ecg I was asked if I had been told I had had a heart attack does it show on print out? I have continually had an ache just to the left of my sternum, since just before Christmas and on Christmas Day. It felt like waves from my heart upwards a sharp pain up left side of my back my left arm hurts above elbow sometimes felt sick, I also felt "empty" sounds silly I know. I am on candstarten for high blood pressure also ivabradine for palpitations. I don't see cardiologist for a few months as in the good care of my gp. Recently went to see gp about above had a troponin blood test which came back normal how long after any possible attack does anything show up is there anything I should be doing. Also had aT.I.A in May. Sorry for long post. Lizzie
When you have an ecg it would show you have had a heart attack ... But if your still getting these pains ask your GP to refer you onto cardiologist sooner ... ♥️
When I rang this morning the doctor had put normal so I don't know levels.
The problem is I went to the doctor a few days after instead of straight away. What are normal levels?
It could be. 🙂
I had my heart attact Sep 2014, desolvable stent fitted next day.
After that, I was I think readmitted 3 x before knowing I would have to have a bypass.
One admission about six months before an angiagram. A nurse told me off the record, that through the grapevine he heard that sometimes the level readings on the two blood tests you have. Don't always show up that woman have had a heart attack or another heart attack if they have already had one.
Oh and by the way, when I had my heart attack 2014, it didn't show up on my ECG until about the fourth one.
Anyway, the nurse said this to me, as mine came back at 14. He said he can't really say but, he felt, off the record again, that all the simptons & signs were showing it most possibly was another heart attack. But the cardiologist obviously didn't think the same. They went on to take me off of bisoprisol because they said my heart was beating slow enough on it's own.
Things didn't improve for me after discharge the next day. But they seemed to think their work here was done. Mmmmm.....
So went to visit my Gp, he booked me in for an E/ stress scan. I seemed to be waiting for ages to hear anything back from hospital. Simptons were getting worse by the day. I think the anxiety of not knowing what was going on was making things worse.
My Gp told me to contact the cardiologist's secretary to ask what was the delay. She appoligised that I had not received the appointment yet and made me another appointment there and then on the phone.
When I arrived at the appointment, the cardiologist asked why I cancelled the first appointment? I said it was nothing to do with me. I have been anxiously waiting as I know something isn't quite right. So he went on to book me in for the stress scan. Obviously it was some administration error. If I hadn't of persisted & brought it up with the Gp. I don't think I would have still been here to tell the tale. I would have been one of the ones that slipped through the net?
As I said, six or so months later when I finally had my stress scan which showed a defect, then went on to gave my angiagram. It showed my first stent had not worked and the bypass would now be pretty argent.
So I guess my message is, if your gut feeling is saying something isn't quite right. Then keep persisting they properly check it out.
Best wishes, Jo 😊
I have a follow up appointment at docs in a week so will ask about cardiologist appointment to be earlier than December, as for troponin levels doctor only told it was below 20 thats's all they do.
Thanks for replies, if anyone has anymore advice please post. Lizzie 👍👍
