Hiya Happy New Year All
Had a chemical Cardioversion mid December (week 5) as I was went into Atrial Fibrillation 2 week’s after my Aortic valve and ascending aorta Aneurysm replacement.
Fortunately the chemical Cardioversion worked and I didn’t need to be shocked.
I’m in week 8 and have been experiencing breathlessness, pressure in my chest, sweats, nausea and the feeling my heart is pounding. This seems to happen in the evening when I’m resting my heart rate goes down to 48, bp 158/123. Normally 76 with bp 126/83.
I went to my GP who did an ECG and immediately called an ambulance. Turns out he picked up something new on the recording. It was only once I was in the ambulance he had compared it to my ECG taken in May before my operation!!!
No wonder it was different. Anyway I was thoroughly checked over and the Cardiologist said it was extra heart beats and the reduced Heart Rate of 48 (normally around 76) was fine and unless I passed out, anything between 40 and 100 is okay. I was discharged later that day.
Has anyone had any experience of this? The amiodarone used for the Cardioversion has been reduced over the past 3 weeks I’ve gone down to 1 x 200mg daily from 3 x 200mg. I’m concerned that things are not improving I want to get back to work at the end of the month and worry this isn’t improving. Anyone who’s had experience of these extra heart beats/flutters.
