21 week in still getting numbness in face and down left leg (not where they removed vein) to top it off laid on my front to push Xmas tree into position and left rib popped pain is horrendous I sometimes think was it all worth it.

21 week post CABG x 3
Hi I'm now at 34 weeks post op, although I still have a tightness stinging and numbness around the scar area it took a good 6 months, before I started to feel OK. However, it takes a good year for the sternum to heal properly so it is not recommended you start lifting or pulling too much. If you felt a popping in your ribs go and get it checked out, just to put your mind at rest. It is a slow recovery and for some it takes that little bit longer. I found it psychologically tough and still have days when it gets me. I am starting counselling soon, but don't beat yourself up. It's horrific what you go through, but you will get there.
Hi I am 8 weeks post op and feel that I have done well physically but suffering psychologically, you say you are starting counselling.Has it took a long time to get referred or have you just realised you need it.Every day I am hopeful and pray that my spirits will lift.Prior to me being suddenly ill we had a family bereavement,so I wonder if I am grieving too ?x
I asked for it whenI came home. I was in hospital for some time and just felt overwhelmed. My waiting time was 3months, but I couldn't do first appointment so a bit of a delay and although I'm doing OK I have decided to carry on with counselling. I think I still need to talk through what I went through. I think quite a few people on here found out further down the line they needed counselling, so still request it and see how you feel when an appointment comes along.
Hi Barrie, numbness round my chest went after about week 32, leg pain, yea well to be honest I wear the compression socks frequently as the left still swells occasionally and aches. Rib sounds as if you've pulled a muscle, but keep an eye on it.
Was it worth it? HELL YES
