My name is Jeff. I am 71 years old and fit for my age. However, I have TTR Amyloidosis which is causing me to have repeated bouts of atrial fibrillation. My Cardiologists have been considering treatment options including catheter ablation, ICD implant and pacemaker implant. I would be interested in hearing about other people's experiences with these treatments.

Hi Jeff, I was diagnosed with AL cardiac amyloidosis 7 years ago when I was 41, I've had two successful chemos, then I had an ICD implanted two years ago. My symptoms hadn't worsened but I think they just picked up tachycardia that had previously been missed. All had been fine, I'd been building up my fitness but received a shock from ICD three weeks ago. It's good to know it did its job but I'm now on beta blockers which aren't great with amyloidosis so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll change or adjust the drugs as I'm now stuck at home breathless and unable to walk further than the car on the drive. Do you see a cardiologist t the Royal Free? Amyloidosis as I'm sure you will have found varies tremendously in the way it affects people so you could have the same drugs with no problems, it just takes time sometimes to find the right ones for you. Good luck.
