Possible ARVD

Hi all. I’m a fit 44 year old and I have been told today that I may have ARVD. I’ve been referred to Leicester for further tests. I’m absolutely devastated. I’m currently training for a program of 10k races and I’ve always been fit and healthy. I’m 5’10’ and 71kg and I cannot contemplate the lifestyle changes that it looks like I may have to make shortly. I will admit it. I’m extremely anxious and I just wondered if anyone else on here has any experience of dealing with the effects of this condition? Huge thanks.

Hi jkmzedder, it's completely understandable how a diagnosis like this can leave you feeling lost. If you would like to speak with someone about this please do contact the BHF Heart Helpline on 0300 330 3311 (email hearthelpline@bhf.org.uk) to speak to one of our specialist cardiac nurses. They can provide more information about your condition and how it can affect you. It may be comforting just to talk through any worries or concerns. Really hope this helps.
