Scalp psoriasis
Do you moisturise it nightly? I haven't tried this because last time my scalp psoriasis was bad so was the rest of my body and I was overwhelmed by the amount of managing involved. But now that the flare is over I'm much more conscientious about managing the remaining patches on my feet and legs and I've had great results from applying Balneum cream daily.
I don't think I was given an equivalent cream or oil specifically for the scalp but I'm reliably informed that applying such a thing nightly ..... yes, rubbing it all over the scalp every night till you look like a complete spiv and, presumably, putting a towel over the pillow ..... can work well for some. If you've not tried this it might well be worth asking your GP or dermatologist for a suitable product and then giving your scalp the full-on greasy mess treatment.
Hi coconut oil from the health shop is good for scalp psoriasis X good luck
Have you been offered Betnovate scalp lotion - its not too greasy, and I find it works really well. It is liquid and has a nozzle so you can apply it just to the skin.
Careful what moisturiser you use as a lot of them have alcohols in them that will soak into the skin and further irritate it.
Hi there
Try rubbing coconut oil into your scalp at night, massage well, tie the hair back. Leave overnight and wash out next morning, should help....I hope so
Same problem, always having to use betnovate scalp lotion, however I have tried Vosene shampoo recently, and it seems to be working, even though it is supposed to be only for dandruff. It is fairly aggressive, as it contains salicylic acid, to reduce the flaking, but I have also noticed that the itching has gone down too
I bought it originally to stop the flaking, and was surprised when the irritation was reduced. I bought mine from poundland, but it is available elsewhere
Also, I would suggest you look at the shampoo you are using, as no amount of moisturising or oiling overnight will help if you are washing it off the next morning with something you are intolerant or allergic to. A lot of topical moisturisers contain alcohols which soak into the skin and exasperate the drying and irritation over the long term, even though they seem soothing at first.
