Hi Kerry

Chest pains should always be looked into so if it carrys on you will need to go back to your G.P snd insist. Or if you see a rheumatologist, they would probably be the best to look into this.

It could be inflammation within the connective tissue on the chest/ribs area.

Does it sound like this link as my Rheumatologist says you can get this with behects and other autoimmune disorders.

I get this frequently and it really does hurt. You can use some anti-inflammatory muscle cream or ointment daily for a while and see if it helps as this will give you a clue to what it is.

Hope it helps

You MUST get this checked out. I don't want to frighten you - or anybody - which is why I've never told this story here. I think now might be the right time.

Back at the beginning of the summer, as most of you know, I was blue-lighted into the local hospital with problems breathing. My sats were very low and remained low, even when on 10 litres of oxygen at positive pressure. The initial theories all centred around drug side effects, mainly 'methotrexate lung.'

The final diagnosis was heart failure. Even more shocking to me - even now - was the fact that the damage to my heart muscle suggested I had had a heart attack. I had never had one as far as I was concerned but I was told it's not unheard of for people to have 'silent' heart attacks.

What I do have, caused by the BD, is endomycardial fibrosis. My understanding is that this is a thickening of the heart muscle. It has been known to be a feature of BD since 1997. This link will take you to a clinical paper published in Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.

This is why you must see a cardiologist or a rheumatologist. If you are already under the care of a rheumatologist I would advise you to make an appointment to see him.

Please see a doctor.

It could be serious, or something quite innocuous like heart burn which needs a different medicine than the one you are already taking.

All the best, Suzanne x
