I have got home this evening and my OH has noticed I have a burst blood vessel in my eye! My eyes have been very sore recently but untill now have had no problems with them. Is this Behcets or just a burst vesel. I havent done anything that I can think of that would cause a blood vessel to burst. Any ideas?

I think you should get it checked out by your Dr as soon as you can. The eye is a place behcets can affect very quickly. So for peace of mind get some medical advice as soon as you are able.
This has happened to me a few times Angela - and it looks dreadful. Without fail I get it checked out by my GP - eyes iz important, as those with damaged vision will tell you! That is one thing I am so grateful for - that my vision has not been damaged. Touching lots of wood.
Thanks to you both. I have spoken to my specialist Nurse at the hospital and she has said I should see my GP straight away to check behind my eye! I have got an appointment this afternoon. So thanks for the advice because otherwise I probably wouldnt have done anything! Will let you know how I get on!
I had a blister/ulcer for about three months, and although no pain, it was irritating..my specialist has told me eyes should be carefully watched and any difference, I should go to the opticians or docs asap...
I hope you get it checked out, and everything is okay x
Me too! Before I was diagnosed, I had an ulcer inside the lower lid and where it rubbed against the eyeball it was dreadfully sore. I had it 'excavated' under general anaesthetic at the local hospital and have had no further problems. I do wonder if it was BD related or not though.
Have been to GP (that was not much use). He advised I go to the Opticians tomorrow to get my eye checked as I have disc shaped something or other. So no answers. Will see what Opticians say tomorrow.
dick - him not you. The opticians at Specsavers have a machine that will look at your retina and will spot any problems but the response from your GP is totally unsatisfactory for a BD patient.
Frustrated at his response because up to now he has been very good but he obviously doesnt know enough about Behcets and wasnt even going to look in my eyes until I asked him too!!!
Guess the optician will be more helpful. More money spent on eye test!!
would have thought you should have had an urgent opthamology appointment at the local hospital. If you are under the care of an eye doctor, you can usually self refer and get seen quickly if you have an urgent problem.Other alternative is to go to AED, where you will be seen by the right doctor with the right eqipment.
You shouldn't have to go to the opticians with this sort of thing!
As others have said, its not wise to delay when there are problems with your eyes. Hope you are ok x

We've been dealing with eye inflammation for 4y, paediatric. Fast examination and treatment with eyes is essential to prevent damage and we should not take any risk or accept delay. GPs don't have ophthalmoscopes or training.
For no delay, go straight to an A&E where there is an Eye Clinic. Phone ahead so they know you're coming - check their website for triage criteria and make sure you report some of those priority criteria over the phone first (esp if it's an appointments system) eg sudden onset, sudden red eye, sudden pain, sudden vision loss, possible drug reaction.
We should not pay for eye checks in opticians when we are under the hospital service because they reclaim it NHS (nhs.uk/chq/Pages/895.aspx?C....
It is better to be monitored ongoing under a consultant (eg uveitis) in a hospital Eye Clinic which has access to our notes.
