Does anyone have an almost constant sore throa... - Behçet's UK
Does anyone have an almost constant sore throat, and flu symptoms...I take colcochine and hydroxychloroquinine every day, but they dont help
Aww My hand is raised on this one. Colchicine takes away a lot of the gross 'pus' but still have the sore throat and sinuses. The worst is when my lungs are actively involved...so painful. Nothing has helped this except for opioid painkillers...which I do not take.
I just met with a new internist and tried to explain how activity (even daily walking) causes everything to slide downhill until I take antibiotics and steroids. For whatever reason, this concept is almost impossible for healthy people in my life to grasp.
Even talking for an hour on the phone or laughing too much during dinner will cause the 'flu' symptoms to act up.
I really wish I could not sympathize!!
omg....I totally get you...Im trying the non stress route... but I too have noticed that even when im a bit tired my throat starts to ache..and then the shivers start and the whole body ache..I do get sympathy although I can see the look of 'omg not again'...iv been gargling with Doxycycline, and i try and drink at least one green tae a day.. for me a good day is great.. a bad day is trying your hardest to get through the day so you can get back to bed, and hope the next day you will be feeling better!!!
so nice to talk to you xx
Hi dawnie and supernova
You will come to know from other messages that I am a Tea Tree oil freek. I use it for lots of problems I have.
For mouthwash and gargle - just put a few drops of Tea Tree oil in a small glass of warm water and swish it around and gargle.
The Tea Tree will give the mouth and throat a numbing affect and acts like an antiseptic/antibacterial.
As you get used to it you can alter the amount of drops of oil to suit yourself.
You can also put one drop of Tea Tree on your toothbrush before adding the toothpaste and this helps any infection on the gums and cleans your tongue as well.
Hopefully it will work as good for you as it does for me and keeps the ulcers at bay.
Good Luck
Andrea
Dear Andrea...does the tea tree oil keep mucus production down? I had every bit of sinus removed years ago but still produce gross amounts of mucus.
Are the tea tree oils all alike or do you have a favorite? Thanks!
Hi Supernova
Yes it does and it is great for sinus's, post nasal drip and hayfever.
I have advised a nasal wash I use for that on another question called Nasal Ulcers
For the nose - I make up 1 cup warm water with 1/2 teaspoon sea salt. 2 drops of tea tree and a small pinch of baking soda.
I rinse the nose through [using a neti pot] or use a dropper or nasal spray bottle to put drops in the nose. It may tingle a little bit for a while but not too bad....the baking soda helps with moisterising and sting.
Get a good quality 100% Tea Tree Oil - I just use an online company in UK.
It is worth a try...Good Luck
Andrea
I totally sympathise - and am currently suffering from a similar problem. Trying to keep it at bay at the first sign of trouble is a good idea- tea tree or corsodyl mouthwash gargles can sometimes help. Smoky or dry atmospheres, tiredness, stress, whatever - who knows what sets these problems off! I took a 10-day course of antibiotics last time, and it worked like a dream but a lot of doctors are reluctant to prescribe. Swabs showed that there was no bacterial involvement in the throat but those pills worked like magic. A number of years ago I had many many repeated bouts of tonsillitis - and the only thing that got rid of it was a low dose of penicillin taken every day for a couple of years.
klaris and all...this is so interesting to me. I had bladder problems for about 8months and had 4 rounds of antibiotics during that time...but symptoms persisted (part of the road to my Behcets diagnosis which I have heard is not unusual).
My Behcets prescribing physician told me that the antibiotics I had been taking had an anti-inflammatory action even in the absence of a urinary infection.
