Have not heard of hives being part of the wonderful BD gift pack.

FYI:

My mom used to have urticaria - horrible size - and the doctors hypothesized that it could be due to undigested proteins passing through the gut, causing autoimmune reaction.

Hi just seen your reply and I too have posted one which you should be able to see. Interesting about what the docs said to your mum because reading it has just made me realise that when I have this problem I also suffer for no known reason ( have had Scans and investigations), with terrible burping. Not painful or burning and only when I lay down. When bad it is all through the night and I eventually go downstairs to try to sleep in a chair sitting up. Strange? Coincidence? O just bad luck!!!!!

Like to hear your thoughts.

My mom has a long history of digestion issues and her symptoms include burping.

Present day discussions on leaky gut and gluten intolerance are so similar to the doctors' discussions with my mom which took place some 30years ago, when leaky gut and gluten issues were not yet in the mainstream.

Interestingly, my mom´s urticaria stopped appearing despite absence of medication and no lifestyle change apart from more exercise. I think she also had a transition to less stress.

Hi and thanks for prompt reply. Yes my situation which only began a couple years ago sounds similar to your mum. I have had stomach problems one way or another all my life but tests etc never show anything aside from the time I had a stomach bleed and they found some BEHCETS ulcers. Long time ago now. Strangely when we are in Spain I never suffer any of these problems and I've almost convinced myself that it is the water where we live as I and docs can find no other reason. Still life goes on and another year holds promise and hope for us all.

Glad you mum is feeling better.

Hugs

Hi Interesting!!!!! For last few years I have on occasions had a burning sensation from inside my body and little pale reddish brown spots and then terrible itching. It started with my scalp and I went through all the usual changing hair products, washing powders etc also creams from my GP but nothing helped and it would after some time all dissappear as quick as it came. Couple years back i took some photos of it on my scalp along to my appointment with BD clinic, also fortunately some occurred on my scalp. They looked and said it was Behcets. Now I take antihistamine daily as and when neccessary. Saw my GP yesterday as it is happening again and he thinks probably the same so back on antohistamine for now. Hope this helps.

I have the itching spots as we speak...in the scalp and buttocks, groin and torso. Sometimes the itching is so intense it is more of a pain than an itch. My neuro and rheumatologist yesterday said it's the nerve endings going crazy as the behcets is flaring to the surface.

But in all honesty the feeling is much worse than anything visible.

Billi my spots sound like yours and I take quercetin +vit C which acts as a natural antihistamine and as I said on another posting...the tea tree oil works wonders on the spots and other areas. I mix it in oil and shampoo/conditioner for my scalp and a very natural body lotion for the body.

As for the digestive problems...I'd had problems for ages and eventually a biopsy of the digestive track showed I had helicobacter pylori and following 3 separate lots of antibiotics and high dose omeprazole, it settled.

Now I take probiotics called optibac and this has kept my digestive system a lot happier and haven't had another dose of the helicobacter Pylori....thankfully

Hi, you know I think they are one of the many symptoms. As a matter of fact I'm struggling with them right now along with the mouth sores etc. The hives seem to come on when I'm really overly tired or stressed out and I have noticed that if I get back to making sure I'm getting enough sleep and doing my meditation it subsides. So darned many symptoms go along with this stuff it's hard to keep up, isn't it?

Wow this is funny that you asked this. I was diagnosed with Behcets at 14. I am now.... gulp.... 42. I’ve stopped seeing drs for it as I was such a guinea pig as a child. My last outbreak was major and I was in Hopkins for a month.

I recently developed a lesion and about 3 days after I started with hives. I itch like crazy and have them all over. Dr gave me meds but they still haven’t stopped. I’m wondering if their is a correlation between the two?!?

Skin lesions are a common feature in a lot of patients. I would note when they happen, how long they last, and keep a food/drug diary. I was diagnosed eight chronic idiopathic urticaria by by my allergist. I often get swelling of the lips, along with flushing, and hives on my head/face/neck. So far lab tests indicate I don’t have to worry about airway involvement.

My allergist said it isn’t uncommon for patients with autoimmune issues, to have these idiopathic responses, and many of the triggers are things I was exposing myself to. Heat, alcohol, and most NSAIDs. Now I’m taking 5mg of Xyzal a day (per doctor’s orders) and I’ve only had a few episodes since. Definitely see an allergist, because it’s common to have allergic type reactions that really just relate to the misfiring immune system.
