I have been suffering penis thrush for over a year. Before that, I have ringworm in my thighs and after It has been cured, I started to get penis thrush and also there is some redness on my testicle skin which make me itchy (sometimes it really itchy). Now, I have been in UK for 3 months. In my country, I went to my dermatologist and had treatments. For medication, I got Fluconazole, Canditral Itraconazole capsules and Candid-B cream to put on. But it has no improvement in treating for a whole year and same as before. I have got to do blood check up and also checked for the diabetes during these period and the result is none. He also suggest me to take less sugar and I follow that. I tried to get enough sleep and also I tried to avoid foods that make fungal infection overgrowth such as dairy and alcohol.
So, I would like to get some advice here for medication to cure this permanently or do I need to go to sexual health clinic near me and see the GP and take medication. Please, it really annoying me and cannot focus on working and studying
Thank you

Ten years ago I went through this same thing. Was told by Gp that I had thrush and was treated for a year with the same medication. I then visited a sexual health clinic for something else and was told it wasn't thrush but was Lichen sclerosus instead. This is the worst itching ever, sore, cracks in vulva. I was prescribed very strong steroid cream and the relief it gave me was immense.
I do still get thrush sometimes but always know the difference now so get prescription for that as and when.
My advice would be to go to a sexual health clinic to put your mind at ease.
Hi! If you haven’t found out exactly what is causing this awful discomfort please ask a doctor if you could possibly have Lichen Sclerosus. Just a thought. It can cause immense itching in genitalia (and sometimes other areas) Lichen Sclerosus is Not contagious and not an STD. Please look that up online, if it may be a possibility. Hopefully you are better now and that it wasn’t anything too serious, after all.
