Missed contraceptive pills

hi, last week on Thursday+Friday I missed my combine pills (I’m on marvalon, which is a low dose contraceptive pill) i had sex with my partner on Friday night unprotected.

i started taking the pill 2 weeks after my period and I was taking the pill for 2-3 weeks before i missed the pills, on the 3rd day I was supposed to take the pill (Saturday) I passed a clot and started bleeding so I decided to have a break from the pill and haven’t taken any pills since,

On Monday I did a ovulation test to see if it was a withdrawal bleed from stopping the pill or my period, the ovulation test come back a strong positive and according to the box instructions it usually means a egg is released 12-36 hours after a positive test,

I’m not too bothered if I get pregnant but are my chances high? I heard sperm can live up to 5 days and if that’s the case it would have died sometime Wednesday/ Thursday around the time the egg could have been released, thanks for reading !

So the standard advice if you are more than 24 hours late taking your pill ( ie missing more than one ) is that you then need to take emergency contraception if sex has occurred, and use condoms for the next 7 days. I am unsure why you decided to decided to stop the pill after you bled slightly - this is to be expected.

Then you did an ovulation test and it's not surprising it showed ovulation , as this was suppressed by the pills which you had stopped taking.

Sperm can survive up to 7 days inside the vagina . So your chance of falling pregnant is low, but you should ensure you continue adequate contraception in the meanwhile , see your next period arrives on time or do a pregnancy test if it doesnt. And resume your regular pill ( if that is what you want ) or consider a longer acting means of contraception that doesnt rely on you remembering to take it.
