oral thrush?

hello everyone, I was diagnosed with tonsillitis one month ago today and was put on a ten day course on 8 a day penicillin. The ‘tonsillitis’ didn’t shift and I was back at UTC today. I have had vaginal thrush 3 times in the last 2 months. So the nurse thinks what I may actually have is oral thrush. It is VERY sore and there is definitely an infected smell to it. It is at the back of my throat. I have been told the penicillin probably made it worse and now am using a Daktarin miconzale gel - it is very difficult to apply as the thrush is at the far back of my throat and neck. Can anyone confirm this is thrush? Only other things I can guess from research is throat infection, quinsy or chlamydia!?!? Haha thank you so much in advance!

An odour would make me think this is more likely to be bacterial. It is highly unlikely to be Chlamydia or gonorrhoea , I would suggest if concerned an sti clinic can do a swab .
