Thrush

I have been to the doctor just over a week ago and they did a few tests , urine and bloods. My doctor confirmed it was thrush and I was truing to establish how I had caused this (could it have been undiluted detol)

The doctor prescribed me cream and that wasn’t getting rid of the rash on tip of my penis. He has now prescribed (fluconozole) and today once I take the tablet will be day 3. I’m still not seeing any improvement and I am really worried (not sleeping) can anybody suggest anything please?

Surety the tablet should be kicking in by now ? Is there another Alternative?

When you say " the doctor confirmed it was thrush " - is this their opinion by looking at the area, or was it confirmed on a skin swab taken from the area ??

Ok if its proven to be candida ( thrush ) I would also be doing a glucose ( sugar ) check in a male . topical treatments like clotrimazole should be sufficient. Oral antifungals are usually not required ( unless diabetic ).

Should I be asking for the 2% cream in your opinion?

Thrush that won't go away could be a sign of an underlying problem, like Diabetes or a poor immune system. If it doesn't disappear, then go back to your doctor and ask him a glucose test to establish your sugar levels. It could also be Balanitis, not Thrush. Both look the same, but Thrush treatments will not get rid of it. It may require antibiotics or other treatment.

Thank you. How is it determined by the doctor whether it’s thrush or Balanitis?

I have the same problem as you, medication didn't do anything for me. Has it improved with you? I wasn't given cream just Fluconozole.

Hi it’s not improved, sadly. It’s consuming me! Have yours Improved?

More tests, or maybe referral to a specialist or a GUM clinic. Thrush is an yeast infection, whereas Balanitis is inflation caused by something else. I believe scientists still don't conclusively know what causes it. It's not that easy to treat either. I know scientists in the US combined a couple of chemicals that worked and could be made up by a pharmacist. However, these would still require a prescription. If you 'Google' Balanitis, one of the links will take you to the research I just mentioned.

Thank you 🙏

That is an antibiotic I would think, in which case it will not kick in after just three days as I believe they don't do any good until you've had nearly all of the treatment, that's why they say make sure to complete the full course.

Why on earth would you use undiluted dettol, I'm surprised you didn't jump through the roof, didn't it sting ? You should never use antiseptic beat on anything !!! What's more it's probably upset your PH balance. Omg I cringe just thinking about it.
